November's night sky - northern hemisphere

Here is a view of the night sky as seen from mid-northern latitudes such as London (51d 30s) in mid November, 2008, at 22h UT (10pm). Imagine holding it over your head so that the centre of the chart is the zenith and the edge runs all the way around your horizon.
This month's night sky mapJupiter remains prominent in the early evening in Sagittarius. But it has an even brighter rival with Venus becoming steadily easier to spot at dusk. One of the best known meteor showers, the Leonids, can be seen for a few nights around the 17th. Rates are not expected to be high at this maximum but it is always worth checking.
The sky will appear much the same from other cities at similar latitudes, such as New York, Paris and Berlin, at around 10pm local time. The sky appears the same at the start of the month an hour later and at the end of the month an hour earlier.
